IB60-031E - Determination Of Electrically-Charged Particles In Emulsified Bitumen

The particle charge test is used to determine whether a sample of emulsified asphalt is anionic or cationic. Placed in a container, a direct current is passed through it. After 30 minutes the electrodes are examined: an anionic emulsion will deposit asphalt
on the anode (positive electrode) while cationic emulsion will deposit asphalt on the cathode.
Procedure described in NLT-194 and ASTM D 244.
Device with built-in variable resistance mA meter.

IB60-042E - Soil Liquid Limit Determination (Casagrande Method)

Soil liquidity test set by the Casagrande method, as per standards NLT-105, UNE 7377, ASTM D 4318 and equivalent.
The Bronze cup is made to fall from 10 mm onto an ebonite base by a cam powered by a hand crank.
There is also a mechanic shake counter and a falling height setting (by screw).
Variant: motorized Casagrande liquid limit test device, driven by an electric motor (220 V – 50/60 Hz, 120 rpm), and fitted with shake counter.

IB60-015E - Asphalt Penetrometer

The penetration is the depth in 0.1mm (tenth of millimetres or dmm) that a loaded needle does reach into a sample in 5 sec. at 25°C, as per standards NLT-124, UNE 7013, ASTM D 5 and equivalent.
The higher the penetration values, the softer the bituminous binder.
Hand-operated device, with a 100 gr. load and a 50±0.05 gr. penetration plunger which can freely move, guided by a rack-and-pinion mechanism set over a steel sphere with 400 dial divisions graduated in dmm, the reading reached there in 5 sec. being the penetration.
The set also includes a penetration needle and three sample pots sized 55 mm diameter and 35 mm depth.
Variant: Automatic penetrometer with micrometric screw.
